Elizabeth Thompson
Owner & Principal DesignerA Georgia Bulldog through and through, Elizabeth received her Bachelor of Family and Consumer Science in furnishings and interiors and launched her 19 year career in Interior Design. Desiring a more personalized client experience and hands on approach to interior design, Elizabeth founded House Dressing Interiors in 2009. House Dressing includes an interior design team of seven with a retail store in the unique Midtown section of Gainesville, GA.
Elizabeth believes the design process should be a collaborative effort that results in beautiful, livable spaces for each client. Working closely with each client to form a clear idea of what they envision for their space, Elizabeth dedicates herself to her client’s vision and brings her listening skills, creativity, and her professional knowledge and experience to every project, large or small. Whether it’s assisting with soft goods and furnishings for a family home or helping long-time clients build their secondary “home away from home”, it all presents a unique and welcome challenge.
Elizabeth exudes passion and style with a keen eye for detail in her work and willingly carries that dedication and expertise into her involvement in the Gainesville community. Although passionate about design, her true passion is her family. Elizabeth and her husband, Ryan, are proud parents of their two beautiful children, Knowles and Carden, and family dog (and House Dressing’s official greeter), Hoppy.
Erin Askounis
Design Project ManagerA Gainesville girl born and raised; Erin attended college at the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega. She graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor in business administration and marketing and became the Shop Manager at House Dressing for two years. After taking some time to explore the corporate world, she quickly realized that she is truly a small business gal! Her itch to serve in a smaller setting just wouldn’t go away and she found herself back at House Dressing in 2021. She now works as Project & Purchasing Manager where both her creative and organizational brain thrive!
In addition to coming back to House Dressing in 2021, she and her husband, Matt, also welcomed their first child, Benjamin “Benny” Askounis to the world! She is happiest when all things are clean and tidy! She loves spending her free time making memories with her sweet little one and family.
Anna Elder
Interior DesignerAnna is a lifelong Gainesville gal and a graduate of the University of Georgia, where she received her degree of Bachelor of Family and Consumer Science in Furnishings and Interiors. Her professional background includes both high-end seamstress work, and personal business assistance roles.
Since joining the House Dressing team in 2017, she’s enjoyed being able to create spaces that are not only full of beautiful things, but that also stimulate positive change. Anna approaches interior design in a purposeful and personal manner. She feels that clients’ spaces should be a direct reflection of their personalities and values, all while being highly functional and approachable.
Her favorite projects include kitchen and bathroom renovations, and anything that includes unique architectural details. She loves a good custom stain formula, and the other girls in the office call her the resident “mixologist”!
Even though she finds all the pretty parts of a project to be exciting, Anna thinks the best part of any project is the relationship that is built with each client. She is humbled by people’s trust in her, and is honored any time a client chooses to work with her.
Anna’s personal life is full of family, friends, diy projects, time spent outdoors, church functions, and music! In May of 2023, she married her fiancé, Josh, and is excited about building a new life with him in the coming years.
Although she is passionate about all these aspects of her life, she believes that her true purpose is found in her relationship with the Lord and therefore, strives to glorify Him in all that she does.
Elizabeth Embry
Interior DesignerElizabeth, or “EE” as we affectionately call her, grew up in south Georgia, but Gainesville has been her home for over 25 years. She married Cooper after dating all through college and was transplanted to north Georgia permanently. After graduating from the University of Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in furnishings and interiors, Elizabeth started her design career at the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center and fell in love with textiles. Once Elizabeth and Cooper started a family, she shifted her focus to her three children, Charters, Price and Margaret, and her home. She fulfilled her creative needs by helping clients on small projects, creating original art and faux painting. As an empty nester, she took the opportunity to join the HDI team as a full time designer. Elizabeth’s design approach is classic and comfortable. She has the ability to effortlessly layer a space with fabulous, new and classic, old pieces to help bring her clients’ vision to life!
Elizabeth enjoys spending time with family and friends, as well as traveling. The Gainesville community means so much to her and has been a wonderful place for she and Cooper to raise their three children!
